Seacoast Artist Association Presents
March 2017 Featured Artist
Revelle Taillon & Students
Artist Reception:
March 5th, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Graphic designer, illustrator and artist, Revelle Taillon of Plaistow, New Hampshire, has found a new niche. She has created beautiful artwork in all of the different mediums, but it is her work with colored pencils that has gotten the attention of local art associations and galleries alike. Over the last year and a half the artist has created over 50 new pieces in colored pencil, many focused on birds. Recently, two of her mixed media pieces, Great Horned Owl and Flamingo, were chosen by noted juror, David Allen Sibley; well-known author, illustrator and ornithologist, to be in an exhibition titled For the Birds in the series Art of Nature at the Brush Gallery in Lowell, Massachusetts. Organized by Eileen Byrne, the show was a collaboration with the Massachusetts Audubon Society to focus attention on birds and their habitats and to raise funds for the volunteers who care for injured birds until they are able to be returned to the wild. After her great success in Lowell, Taillon was invited to hang a one woman show at the Massachusetts Audubon Society in Newburyport, Massachusetts, also featuring her birds.
Taillon, who graduated from the University of Lowell with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, has run her own graphic design studio for over 20 years, specializing in brochures, advertising, illustration, and logo design.
She has been teaching at the Seacoast Artist Association in Exeter, New Hampshire for over five years, holding classes in colored pencil, drawing, drawing the human head, acrylics, and painting in pastels. In 2017 she will be offering additional classes in drawing with charcoal, and drawing drapery.
Taillon is joined by some of her students for this exhibition, highlighting techniques they have honed in her classes. Many of her students start out in Learn to Draw, and then take classes in additional media. She reinforces basic drawing skills in each class she teaches, whether or not the student has taken a drawing class.
She believes drawing is the fundamental process that predicts how well her students will progress when applying their talents to other mediums. She often brings in samples of supplies for her students to try out in class so they can expand their selection of tools and supports for various media.
Please join her in welcoming her
students to their first art gallery show!
