In this class you can choose your drawing medium: pencil, charcoal, pastel pencil or colored pencil. Choose the medium you are most familiar with to start. You can try the others during class. We will work from photos of various domestic & wild animals. Learn the secrets to creating great fur, hair, and feathers. Learn to break down animals into their basic elements and shapes, see their edges, notice positive & negative space and perspective. Blind contour drawing will enhance your understanding of how to render what you are looking at in a realistic manner quickly. Learn how to shade animals based on lighting and fur direction. And you will get a chance to bring in favorite photos of your pets to draw.

What  to bring: (you only need one set, but can bring more): Set of pencils (12, soft and hard leads), or colored pencils (minimum 32), or charcoal (soft and hard sticks and/or pencils), or pastel pencils, pencil sharpeners for your medium, white plastic eraser, kneaded eraser or electric eraser. Appropriate papers or boards to use with your medium of choice (contact me if you are not sure). Minimum class size is 3. Class size limited to 7.
