Small Art painted on canvas, with magnets attached on the back.

Being a hanging member, I have art at the Seacoast Artist Association in Exeter NH at all times, some framed and hanging, some Giclée Prints in the bins and a few originals in the bins.

Because it's almost Christmas, I have created some tiny art, 2", 4", 6", that is painted in acrylics on mini canvases, with magnets attached. If you can't find them, ask the gallery sitter to point them out to you. Here are a few of them hanging on my refrigerator!

I also have some free Christmas postcards for you, flyers about my upcoming art classes, and a poster in the window. You can also check out upcoming classes on their website here: http://seacoastartist.org/events/

Let me know if you have any questions!

Finally finished this charcoal portrait of one of my grandaughters

I've started teaching charcoal drawing classes and with that, I have rediscovered how wonderful they are! I did a Corgi a while back and then it was no stopping me! I like toned paper as it gives me a third color to use within the piece. If you haven't started using charcoal, have a try. They can be messy on your finders, but you can just erase your fingers with your kneaded eraser!

Lots of new students!

Well I started new classes last week and they really filled up! I'm re-starting classes with 2 little girls after a brief summer off, I'm teaching my granddaughter who is 8 (once a week), and I will be starting a new charcoal class at Timberlane High School in Plaistow NH, next week. I love all the new students, so eager to learn, and excited about being there. That makes my day! Here's a charcoal piece I finished recently. Enjoy!

It's a glorious day outside!

I've been working on this drawing in charcoal for a while. It's on Duralar Matte. It's wonderfully smooth with just a hint of tooth, so it accepts charcoal, colored pencils and all kinds of paint. I get mine on DickBlick.com. You should try this surface!

If you'd like to get updates to my blog, please sign up, and please leave comments!

Changing themes

The snow has been melting this week, but the weather report offers us another 6-12 inches on Friday and Saturday. Noooo!

I've been keeping busy creating new greeting cards from old photos for my Etsy Shop. Check them out here! https://www.etsy.com/shop/roxy5235?ref=hdr_shop_menu

Today it's snowing again.

Not much, but still...it is Spring! I want some warm weather. Been waiting until the ground starts to thaw before I order some new day lilies. I love gardening and have so many perennials. I think I'll have to share some of them, so I can buy more!
Here's a day lily I drew in pastels. So much inspiration from a garden!

The wind is howling!

It's the second day of spring and the ground is covered with snow and the wind is howling! Had to go out, but glad to be back inside. I have to teach a charcoal drawing class tonight, and I believe I will have them draw crows. Should be fun and messy.

Gallery Opening at Seacoast Artist Association in Exeter NH

Seacoast Artist Association Presents
March 2017 Featured Artist
Revelle Taillon & Students
Artist Reception:
March 5th, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Graphic designer, illustrator and artist, Revelle Taillon of Plaistow, New Hampshire, has found a new niche. She has created beautiful artwork in all of the different mediums, but it is her work with colored pencils that has gotten the attention of local art associations and galleries alike. Over the last year and a half the artist has created over 50 new pieces in colored pencil, many focused on birds. Recently, two of her mixed media pieces, Great Horned Owl and Flamingo, were chosen by noted juror, David Allen Sibley; well-known author, illustrator and ornithologist, to be in an exhibition titled For the Birds in the series Art of Nature at the Brush Gallery in Lowell, Massachusetts. Organized by Eileen Byrne, the show was a collaboration with the Massachusetts Audubon Society to focus attention on birds and their habitats and to raise funds for the volunteers who care for injured birds until they are able to be returned to the wild. After her great success in Lowell, Taillon was invited to hang a one woman show at the Massachusetts Audubon Society in Newburyport, Massachusetts, also featuring her birds.

Taillon, who graduated from the University of Lowell with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, has run her own graphic design studio for over 20 years, specializing in brochures, advertising, illustration, and logo design.

She has been teaching at the Seacoast Artist Association in Exeter, New Hampshire for over five years, holding classes in colored pencil, drawing, drawing the human head, acrylics, and painting in pastels. In 2017 she will be offering additional classes in drawing with charcoal, and drawing drapery.
Taillon is joined by some of her students for this exhibition, highlighting techniques they have honed in her classes. Many of her students start out in Learn to Draw, and then take classes in additional media. She reinforces basic drawing skills in each class she teaches, whether or not the student has taken a drawing class.

She believes drawing is the fundamental process that predicts how well her students will progress when applying their talents to other mediums. She often brings in samples of supplies for her students to try out in class so they can expand their selection of tools and supports for various media.

Please join her in welcoming her
students to their first art gallery show!
