This class is for students who have already taken a colored pencil class or two and would like to continue learning more about colored pencils and want a class to practice more and improve your skills. Explore various techniques in colored pencil: creating fur and feathers, preserving highlights to create volume, building layers of color, mixing for dark rich colors, creating interesting backgrounds, new highlighting techniques. You will work from photos and improve your own personal technique and style. Learn to use watercolor color pencils for your backgrounds, and use Liquin for dissolving colored pencils. Come meet new friends and see samples of colored pencil artwork from around the globe.

What to bring: Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils (minimum 36 pencil set), battery operated pencil sharpener, kneaded eraser, hard white eraser, 2B pencil, colorless blender pencil or marker, #1 long liner brush (for whiskers or hairs), small detail brushes. Get some new papers to work on like: Canson Mi-Teintes, Stonehenge, Strathmore, Colourfix Sanded Papers. Choose a variety of colors, not just white. Check them out online at www.dickblick.com for great prices. Other great surfaces for colored pencil are hot pressed watercolor paper, vellum bristol board and matte board.
